SASKATOON – The Saskatoon Health Region has issued a public apology after more than a thousand lab results were not sent to doctors in paper format because of a computer error.

The region said electronic reporting was not affected but as a precaution, a notification was sent to physicians.

The latest health and medical news emailed to you every Sunday.

The system error was detected in late May when a doctor called about missing lab results.

It has since been corrected.

SHR said 1,015 test results for 620 patients were not delivered automatically. The majority of the affected test results were from the past two years but some dated back to 2007.

None of the test results involved acute care, emergency or hospitalized patients.

A letter has been sent to affected physicians along with the test results.
