SASKATOON – Firefighters arriving at a blaze at a Saskatoon strip mall Wednesday morning were met by heavy black smoke and flames.
Crews were called to the building at 924 Northumberland Ave. around 7 a.m.
Firefighter used power saws to gain access to an attic space where it was discovered the fire had spread to one of the tenant bays.
The fire was brought under control in 30 minutes.
Smoke in the mall was removed with ventilation fans and crews remained on the scene to search for any possible fire extension.
There is no damage estimate at this time.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
