REGINA – One of Regina’s very own has been called up to the big leagues.

Umpire Stu Scheurwater will be making his Major League Baseball debut Friday night at Los Angeles’ Dodgers Stadium in front of family and friends who are making the trip down from Regina.

The 30-year-old will be officiating a three-game series between the L.A. Dodgers and Colorado Rockies.

“It’s going to be another day of work, I’ve got to go out there and do my job,” said Scheurwater.

“You’re definitely going to soak up everything that is happening around you, but when it comes down to it, I have to go out there and work.”

Scheurwater will be at second base on Friday night, first base on Saturday and he will behind the plate calling balls and strikes on Sunday.
