Two firefighters injured working on 3-alarm blaze in the Junction

TORONTO – Two firefighters were injured while working to extinguish a three-alarm blaze on Perth Avenue in Toronto Wednesday morning.

A mayday call was issued as crews dealt with a fire that is believed to have started in the basement of a townhouse.

The fire began around 8 a.m. at the residence near Dupont Street and Lansdowne Avenue.

One firefighter was taken to hospital while another was treated at the scene.

The extent of their injuries are unknown at this time.

The fire was spread to an adjacent townhouse with 13 trucks and 50 firefighters called to the scene.

Officials say the blaze was extinguished around 9:30 a.m.
