A 40-year-old British man is facing drug trafficking charges after ingesting heroin pellets in an attempt to smuggle the drug into Canada.
The man was intercepted at the Vancouver International Airport on March 23.
He was referred for a secondary examination during which border officers became suspicious that he may have ingested narcotics.
The man was immediately arrested.
A total of 67 pellets containing 1.36 kg of heroin were obtained.
John Josephs has now been charged with importation and possession for the purpose of trafficking.
