TORONTO – Metrolinx is looking for input from Greater Toronto Area residents, as the provincial transit agency and the City of Toronto begin crafting a study on the proposed downtown relief subway line.

Metrolinx, the city, and TTC held their first of four consultation meetings Saturday at the Sheraton Centre.

During the meetings residents were asked for their ideas on which issues should be addressed as part of the study and ways the public can best be informed throughout the process.

The downtown relief subway line has become a hot political topic in the Toronto mayoral race, with both John Tory and Karen Stintz making it a priority in their election platforms. Candidate Olivia Chow said although she supports the idea, a downtown relief line should not be an issue in Toronto’s 2014 municipal election.
