TORONTO — Robin Thicke has cancelled his appearance at the Juno Awards in Winnipeg on Sunday, citing voice issues.

The “Blurred Lines” singer was scheduled to perform at the Junos, where he is also nominated for three awards.

Thicke has cancelled a number of performances in recent weeks, including one at a casino in Ontario in mid-March.

Two concerts in the U.S. leading up to Sunday’s Juno Awards were also cancelled.

At the Junos, Thicke is nominated for Pop Album of the Year, Artist of the Year and Fan Choice.

An online petition by Ottawa’s Catherine Vanner called for Thicke to be uninvited from the Junos because she believes his hit “Blurred Lines” promotes rape.

“Tell the JUNO Awards not to reward rape culture, but instead to take action against it by removing Robin Thicke from all nominations and cancelling his scheduled performance at the award show,” reads the petition, which had a little more than 1,700 supporters.

Thicke, who is the son of Canadian actor-singer Alan Thicke, was nominated for Best R&B/Soul Recording of the Year at the Juno Awards in 2012 but lost to Melanie Fiona.

Sarah McLachlan, Tegan and Sara, OneRepublic, Walk Off The Earth and hosts Classified and Serena Ryder are still scheduled to perform.

Country acts Brett Kissel, Dean Brody and Gord Bamford will also perform, along with an all-star band paying tribute to Hall of Fame inductees BTO.

A videotaped performance by Arcade Fire will also be broadcast.

In February, Dallas Green announced he was pulling out of the Junos line-up because his City and Colour was not nominated.
