WINNIPEG – The University of St. Boniface has asked the province for a conciliator’s help in negotiations with its professors.

The professors union held a strike vote March 7 and the approximately 90 employees it represents could go on strike as soon as Monday.

The university’s website called the request for a conciliator a normal step in negotiations and said it doesn’t mean a strike will take place. Bargaining is continuing.

USB, Manitoba’s only French-language university, grew from a school established in the community of Red River almost 200 years ago.
