As the number of properties with frozen pipes continues to grow in Winnipeg, the City of Brandon is dealing with its own pipe problems.

Brandon’s struggles aren’t anywhere close to the problem facing Winnipeg.

As of March 6, crews in Brandon had responded to a total of 80 frozen water services, a city spokesperson told Global News via email Monday night.

In Winnipeg, city officials are adding nearly that many to a wait list for thawing each day, with more than 1,500 reports of frozen pipes since November.

As of last week, there were 194 taps open at various locations around Brandon, largely in older areas with shallow water-service mains to homes. Those residents have been asked to run a small stream of water to keep their water pipes from freezing.
