Alberta driver facing impaired and dangerous driving charges

EDMONTON – A Leduc man is facing several charges, including impaired driving, after the vehicle he was driving was observed travelling nearly 100 km/h over the speed limit.

The 22-year-old man was stopped on the QEII near Leduc early Friday morning by an Alberta Sheriff after the vehicle he was operating was allegedly travelling at 201 km/h. The speed limit on the QEII is 110 km/h.

Police say the driver appeared to be showing signs of impairment and was arrested.

He was taken to the Leduc Detachment where he provided breath samples. Police say the breath analyzed confirmed the driver was three times over the legal limit.

The Leduc resident has been charged with dangerous driving and impaired driving.

He will appear in Leduc Provincial Court on April 10th.
