Sundre RCMP investigate suspicious death of feral horse

CALGARY – RCMP are investigating the suspicious death of a feral horse after its remains were discovered on a rural road near Sundre.

Officers found the animal’s carcass north of Highway 584 in Clearwater County on February 28th.

Police say their preliminary investigation suggests it may have been shot, but they won’t know for sure until a necropsy is completed.

Feral horses are protected under the Criminal Code, however, the Alberta government recently distributed three permits giving holders permission to capture the animals.
