TORONTO – More than 5.3 million PlayStation 4 consoles have been sold worldwide since its release in November, Sony Computer Entertainment announced Tuesday.
The latest numbers continue to show that the new PlayStation console is outselling its rival, Microsoft’s Xbox One, which was launched at the same time last year.

At the end of January Microsoft announced Xbox One sales had topped 3.9 million.
Previously, Sony said it hoped to sell five million consoles by the end of March after it was released to consumers in Japan – the last market to receive the PlayStation 4. The console goes on sale in Japan on February 22.
