UPDATE: Police believe pedestrian hit by bus was intoxicated

EDMONTON – A 47-year-old man was taken to hospital Monday afternoon, after a collision downtown.

Police were called to the collision, between an ETS bus and the man, around 3:30 p.m. It happened at the intersection of 101 Street and 103A Avenue.

Police say EMS attended to the man, who suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Police shut down the northbound lanes of 101 Street as they investigated the collision. Motorists were asked to take a different route for their evening commute.

The roadway reopened to traffic shortly after 6:00 p.m.

An investigation has since revealed that the man, who was attempting to catch the bus, was hit by the bus after reportedly stumbling off the sidewalk. Investigators believe he was intoxicated at the time of the incident.

No charges have been laid at this time.
