HALIFAX – Nova Scotia’s health minister says the bulk of the province’s final order of flu vaccine will go to pharmacies that are experiencing shortages.
Leo Glavine says most of the 9,600 flu vaccine doses will go to pharmacies in the Halifax area and Pictou County.
Provincial health officials have said the shortages are the result of more people than expected going to pharmacies to get their flu shots and not because they don’t have enough vaccine.
The province originally allocated 20,000 doses for pharmacies, but a health official said last week that nearly 60,000 shots had been given.
Nova Scotia ordered 435,000 doses for this flu season.
