The City of Hamilton is growing and the population is projected to increase to 660,000 by 2031.

While the City has made efforts to grow within it’s current urban boundary, an urban boundary expansion is required to accommodate future population growth. The City invites you to attend a Community Meeting and Workshop for the Elfrida Growth Area Study and Subwatershed Study.

The purpose of the meeting and workshop is to learn about the studies underway for the area and to help develop a vision and principles for how the future community could develop.

Story continues below

The subwatershed study is intended to present an approach to manage, protect, and enhance the natural environment. This includes stormwater management (quality and quantity), terrestrial and aquatic resources within the Elfrida study area limits. Major issues and opportunities have been identified which provide the basis to guide future growth in an environmentally sound manner.

Phase 1 findings of the Study will be available at the Community Meeting. This Study follows the planning and design process defined in the Municipal Engineers Association Municipal Class Environmental Assessment document (October 2000, as amended in 2007, 2011 & 2015).

WORKSHOPS

Participants will work in small groups with a member of the project team to explore ideas for how the Elfrida Growth Study Area could grow and develop in the future. Participants will explore opportunities related to land use, built form, access and greenspace. View more details about the Elfrida Growth Area Study at http://www.hamilton.ca/Elfrida
