Local Anishinaabe representatives and the Nature Conservancy of Canada partnered to re-name a strip of land along the Assiniboine River in western Manitoba Wabano Aki, which means tomorrow’s land in Anishinaabe. It will be used for agriculture, conservation, cultural and spiritual purposes by Indigenous communities.
