HPV self-sampling ‘exciting possibility’ for cervical cancer screening: doctor
Description
September 25, 2023
Dr. Aisha Lofters a family physician and researcher at Women's College Hospital in Toronto, spoke with Global News on Wednesday about calls for more access to humanpapillomavirus (HPV) self-testing. She said as more provinces move away from Pap smears to HPV testing, there is an "exciting possibility" of increasing access to cervical cancer screening through use of self-tests. She said it would also help people who want more privacy, or even may have a history of trauma that may make it difficult for some to go through a screening.
