Canada approves AI mammogram that can detect breast cancer years in advance
Description
September 14, 2023
The technology called ProFound Risk uses artificial intelligence (AI) to provide women with personalized risk estimations one to two years ahead of time, even when a current mammogram comes back clear, and was found to be more accurate than current risk assessment devices in use. Health Canada approved the technology for use this summer, which means it will likely become accessible to Canadians in a few years. Naomi Barghiel reports.
