The chief of the McLeod Lake Indian Band issued a forceful defence of the Indigenous nation’s logging practices. Haley Chingee said the band had no choice but to do a massive clearcut north of Prince George to preserve the economic value of a stand of spruce trees killed by a pine beetle infestation.
