Addressing the White House press briefing on Friday, U.S. National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan said that the risks of cluster munitions, where unexploded ordinance could pose a risk to citizens later on, is outweighed by the civilian harm posed by Russian troops in the ongoing war with Ukraine. Sullivan also said that the cluster munition would be used within Ukrainian territory to defend their own land, and that there would be post-war demining efforts to clear the land of weapons from both Russian and own military alike.
