Sutherland Avenue fire debris faces similar future to remains February fire, resident says
Description
July 7, 2023
Point Douglas homeowner Marshall Wiebe compared Tuesday's massive fire on Sutherland Avenue in Winnipeg to a blaze that destroyed a building in February a few blocks away. Wiebe said nothing has been done with the site of February's Surplus Direct store on Main Street except for the installation of temporary fences that fail to keep people out. Wiebe added, "Debris like this wouldn't remain for six months in Sage Creek, which sends a message: 'you're poor, too bad.'"
