Winnipeg police chief unveils $10 million strategy to tackle downtown crime

Winnipeg police chief Danny Smythe said on Thursday the $10 million strategy will include 24 new officers, 75 new CCTV cameras with a monitoring station and a “crime prevention hub.” When asked what areas will be supported by the investment, Smythe said the strategy will focus on the exchange district, sports and hospitality district, and the Forks.
