‘It’s probably a mercy’: Expert says Titanic sub implosion was likely instantaneous
Description
July 1, 2023
A deep-sea submersible carrying five people on a voyage to the century-old wreck of the Titanic was found in pieces from a "catastrophic implosion" that killed everyone aboard, the U.S. Coast Guard said on Thursday. Will Kohnen, chairman of peer-review group Marine Technology Society's (MTS) committee on manned submersibles, said the implosion of the vessel would have happened instantly - calling it a "mercy" for those on board versus a slow death on the ocean floor
