Special rapporteur David Johnston quit his role investigating foreign interference, citing a “partisan atmosphere” around his appointment. The move comes after opposition leaders passed an NDP motion calling for Johnston to resign. Although the Liberals have defended Johnston’s integrity and say they will work across party lines to find a new advisor on foreign interference, ‘The West Block’ host Mercedes Stephenson sat down with Intergovernmental Affairs Minister Dominic LeBlanc to discuss whether the Liberal government will heed the opposition’s calls to hold an immediate public inquiry. Plus, Stephenson sat down with Defence Minister Anita Anand to talk about the role of the CAF during disasters like this wildfire season and some of the other major challenges facing the military right now.
