Winnipeg structural engineer Ameen Deraj shared his thoughts on Thursday, following the emergency at Fort Gibraltar on Wednesday morning. The incident sent 17 children visiting the fort on a school trip to the hospital after the collapse of an elevated platform. Deraj said, “it’s shocking to hear inspections on the structure aren’t performed at least every two years given the exposure to elements.”
