Lawyer for Oath Keepers’ Stewart Rhodes calls him a ‘political prisoner’ after 18-year sentence for seditious conspiracy

Stewart Rhodes, founder of the far-right militia Oath Keepers, was sentenced Thursday to 18 years for seditious conspiracy in connection with the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol. Edward Tarpley, a member of his legal team, called Rhodes a “political prisoner” and said he was convicted “because of his words.”
