Peterborough elementary teachers faced over 2,800 violent incidents so far in school year: ETFO report

NOTE: The interview incorrectly stated the data was from January to April 2023. The data for the school board actually encompasses the school year from September 2022 to April 2023.

A recent provincial survey finds that an alarming number of elementary school staff across the province have either been subjected to, or witnessed, violence against educators.
A similar story locally with 2,866 violent incidents reported from September to April across the Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board .
The numbers are shocking to some, but come as no surprise to front liners.
David Berger, president of the local branch of the Elementary Teacher’s Federation of Ontario, joins Noor Ibrahim with more.
