Alberta wildfires have scorched 2x as much land than a normal year — and it’s only May 10
Description
May 10, 2023
Alberta Wildfire information unit manager Christie Tucker said as of May 10, 410,000 hectares of land has been burned by wildfire - double the average area Alberta would normally see burnt in an entire year. She said the northern boreal forest is expecting more hot, dry weather in the coming days and the fire situation could get worse toward the weekend. Several wildfires in Alberta have been grouped into complexes to make attacking them more organized.
