Prime Minister Justin Trudeau sidestepped a question on whether Canada was in a proxy war with Russia through the conflict with Ukraine, but said that Russia's choice to "arbitrarily redraw lines on a map" and violate the UN Charter should be of "real concern to everyone around the world." He said supporting and "standing unequivocally" Ukraine is the "right thing to do," and added there are authoritarian dictators globally looking at Russia's invasion to see if President Vladimir Putin succeeds for them to potentially do the same to a neighbouring country.
