City crews, backed by armed police, returned to Vancouver’s Hastings Street on Thursday to clear out about a dozen tents set up overnight. Even as critics stepped up their attacks, Vancouver doubled down on its new policy, refusing to let a tent city take root in the Downtown Eastside. Jasmine Bala reports.
