Bill 8, the Alberta Firearms Act, is being touted as the “most comprehensive provincial firearms framework in the country.” Once passed, the bill will establish the role of Alberta’s chief firearms officer and fight for fair compensation for gun owners who are forced to surrender now-banned firearms. Advocates are pleased with what they’ve seen so far. Elissa Carpenter reports.
