Speaking in front of the Canadian House of Commons on Tuesday evening, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen described the harrowing scenes she witnessed when she visited Bucha, Ukraine, after it was liberated from Russia, and spoke about the accounts of sexual violence by Russian soldiers. Russia’s invasion is not only a war on Ukraine, she said, “it is also a war on human rights and women’s rights.”
