Plans are underway to create Canada’s first 2SLGBTQ+ recovery centre here in Calgary. LGBTQ youth face 14 times the risk of suicide and substance abuse than their heterosexual peers but there are no places in the country geared specifically towards the community. As Carolyn Kury de Castillo reports, members of the queer community don’t feel safe at traditional addictions treatment programs and that has stopped people from getting the life saving help they require.
