Former Canadian prime minister Jean Chrétien remembered Hazel McCallion as “always to the point,” determined and “no-nonsense,” adding that the former Mississauga mayor had a “big heart” and that “she was always an example.” He said the two had made a pact to retire together and that when he left politics she called “to give me hell.”
