Speaking to reporters on Saturday, Tennessee state representative Joe Towns Jr. reacted to the release of video footage capturing a fatally violent confrontation between Tyre Nichols, a Black man, with five police officers. “We want justice,” Towns said. “It doesn’t matter whether you’re Black cop, a white cop. We want the same thing when it comes to fair treatment in this community… We want justice for this family.”
