Home Depot shared customer data with Meta without consent: Canada’s privacy commissioner

Canada's Privacy Commissioner Philippe Dufresne said Thursday that Home Depot had shared customer data with Meta, Facebook's parent company, without customers' consent. He said through an investigation, the company had collected data through customers signing up for e-receipts, then shared encoded email addresses as well as in-store purchase information with Meta. He said Home Depot has since ceased the process following the report issued by his office.
