Darlene Jackson, president of the Manitoba Nurses Union, called for support on Wednesday for the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) program at the Health Sciences Centre. Jackson said traumatized victims of sexual assault are often left waiting for on-call SANE nurses to attend because of the program’s staffing shortage problems.
