Chief Judy Desjarlais called Wednesday’s agreement a “historic moment,” after the Blueberry River First Nations signed an agreement with the province to rehabilitate the community’s land and return Treaty 8 rights to limit future natural resource extraction development. Desjarlais says she “never dreamed” she would see this moment, after watching the case begin when she was just a youth.
