On Friday, Ukrainian authorities denied Russian claims that its forces captured the fiercely contested salt-mining town of Soledar, in what would be a strategic victory for the Kremlin after a series of setbacks in its invasion. “The heavy fight for the Donetsk region continues. The battle for Bakhmut and Soledar, for Kreminna, for other cities and villages in the east of our country continues,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
