Community-based homelessness initiatives shot down at Peterborough city council’s first meeting

Two Notice of Motions to address Peterborough’s lack of shelter beds were brought forth to city council’s first general committee meeting only to meet negative councillor response.
A proposed $100,000 grant for One City Peterborough and PATH’s sleeping cabin initiative were voted down.
Calls for due process and community consultation mean it is back to the drawing board for homeless advocates.
