VPD chief on data included in and motivation behind ‘social safety net’ report
Description
November 9, 2022
Global News reporter Rumina Daya questions Vancouver police Chief Adam Palmer on the potentially misleading data in a preliminary report conducted by HelpSeeker Technologies on money spent on social issues in Vancouver. Despite "stellar examples of ways that we should do business" in the Downtown Eastside, Palmer said the big picture points to a lack of co-ordination and too many people working in silos. He explained the motivation behind the report and said they commissioned it last year when a special committee was formed to reform B.C.'s Police Act.
