Sask. First Nations leaders call upon province to update consultation policies
Description
November 7, 2022
Saskatchewan First Nations community leaders visited the Legislative Building on Monday as guests of the NDP, who presented the "Meaningful Duty to Consult Act." The current policy dictates that an email or meeting can be considered a consultation. Critics say impacted communities should be allowed more time properly review, analyze, and weigh in on crown activities such as land sales.
