Fall economic statement: Federal interest on student loans eliminated, new quarterly Canada Workers Benefit created

Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland announced Thursday during the fall economic statement that the federal interest on student loans would be eliminated as of April 1 of 2023. She also announced the creation of a new quarterly Canada Workers Benefit, which will deliver advanced payments to lowest-paid “and often most essential” workers.
