Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland announced Thursday during the fall economic statement that the federal interest on student loans would be eliminated as of April 1 of 2023. She also announced the creation of a new quarterly Canada Workers Benefit, which will deliver advanced payments to lowest-paid “and often most essential” workers.
