Prime Minister Justin Trudeau commented on Tuesday on the Ontario government’s use of the notwithstanding clause to stop education workers from going on strike via the passing of legislation, saying that suspending workers’ rights is “wrong” and negotiations have to happen one way or another. Attorney-General David Lametti said the use of the notwithstanding clause is “very serious” and “problematic in our in our democracy” and that he’s looking at available legal action options.
