The Nobel Prize in physics was awarded Tuesday to three scientists for their work on quantum information science, which according to reports has significant applications, including in the field of encryption. The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences cited Alain Aspect, John F. Clauser and Anton Zeilinger for “pioneering quantum information science.”
