Winnipeg seniors call for housing solution after building sale

Rene Jamieson, a resident of Lions Place, called for a housing solution for low, fixed, and modest income seniors on Tuesday. The announcement took place outside of the renovated Smith Street Lofts at 185 Smith Street in downtown Winnipeg, a building once owned by the non-profit organization Lions Housing Centres. Jamieson and other advocates called for the provincial partnership to stop the privatization of Lions Place. Jamieson said "it's not just bricks and mortar but a village of people who look out for one another, and that's rare."
