Wild rice, also known as Mnoomin, is the star of the show this Saturday at Curve Lake First Nation.
Wild rice is harvested throughout September, and the Mnoominkewin gathering is a celebration of wild rice and Indigenous food sovereignty.
Daemin Whetung is a co-organizer for this event and joined Teresa Kaszuba on Global News Morning Peterborough to share the history of wild rice harvesting in Indigenous communities.
