Ministers defend delay of cannabis legislation review

Health Minister Jean-Yves Duclos, Addictions Minister Carolyn Bennett, as well as MP Nate Erskine-Smith, defended the one-year delay of the review of the government's cannabis legislation that was required three years after legalization. Duclos said they would have liked for it to have been announced in spring or early summer 2022, and in checking with partners including public health, they wanted to ensure they did three things better: independence, scope and engagement.
