1 injured following crash into hydro pole on County Road 2 in Hamilton Township

A driver was taken to hospital after a vehicle crashed into a hydro pole in Hamilton Township on Wednesday night.

Around 10 p.m., emergency crews responded to the crash on County Road 2 at Theatre Road, located between Port Hope and Cobourg.

Crews located a vehicle in the ditch and a snapped off hydro pole.

The driver was seen walking to a stretcher and was then taken to hospital by paramedics. It’s believed he suffered minor injuries.

Police say before emergency crews arrived, several vehicles drove under the low hanging hydro wires and struck them. No injuries were reported.

Northumberland OPP said County Road 2 was closed in both directions between Augustine Road and Apple Orchard Road and Carr Road. Theatre Road was closed between County Road 2 and Telephone Road.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
