Friday marks the 50th anniversary of an event that definitively changed Canada’s biggest sport. The 1972 Summit Series was billed as a bitter battle on the ice – Team Canada facing off against the Soviet Union in an eight-game roller coaster that captured the imagination of millions. But for many it was more than just hockey. Eric Sorensen takes a look back at the iconic battle on and off the ice.
